Branch 2A: Approaching the Watchtower

Your curiosity overcomes caution as you step closer to the ancient structure. The stone watchtower looms above you, its architecture defying conventional historical patterns. The walls, constructed from massive blocks of local stone, fit together with impossible precision – no mortar, yet not even a blade of grass could slip between them.

Emma's EMF meter suddenly goes silent, though its display shows the strongest readings yet. The symbols nearest to you pulse with a soft, bluish light that seems to respond to your presence. They form intricate patterns that flow like water across the stone surface, connecting in ways that suggest both language and mathematical formula.

“This is incredible,” Jake breathes, his geologist's skepticism warring with wonder. “These stones… they're local limestone, but they've been altered somehow. The crystalline structure is unlike anything I've ever seen.” He reaches out, hand hovering near one of the glowing symbols.

Just before his fingers make contact, a voice cuts through the evening air – clear, cultured, and completely unexpected.

“I wouldn't touch that particular symbol,” it says. “Unless, of course, you want to activate the tower's defensive mechanisms.”

What do you do?

Choice 3A: Turn to face the voice while stepping away from the tower

Choice 3B: Press your hand against the symbol quickly, driven by scientific curiosity
